RRC Volunteer Program

The Raza Resource Centro (RRC) Volunteer Program offers UC San Diego students an opportunity to support the Centro’s mission through community care, cultural programming, and student engagement. Volunteers play an important role in helping create a welcoming and vibrant space where students, staff, faculty, and alumni can connect, explore identity, and build community.

Volunteers work alongside RRC student interns and career staff to support programs, events, and outreach efforts that uplift Latinx/Chicanx histories, cultural expression, and social justice education. This role is ideal for students who want to get involved, gain leadership experience, explore community-based work, and contribute to student success through the Centro.

While volunteers work in partnership with the student intern team, they do not take on intern-level responsibilities. Instead, they provide valuable support that strengthens programming, outreach, hospitality, and the overall student experience during the academic year.

What Volunteers Help With

Community Care & Space Support

Volunteers help create a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment by:

  • Greeting and directing visitors during busy times
  • Restocking community supplies such as scrap paper, wellness items, coffee, or snacks
  • Supporting shared space upkeep, including resetting chairs, refreshing study rooms, and wiping tables after programs
  • Helping maintain a clean, comfortable, and cared-for environment for all community members

Event & Programming Support

Volunteers assist with the logistics that help programs run smoothly, including:

  • Event setup, check-in, and breakdown
  • Preparing supplies, materials, and decorations
  • Supporting hospitality, materials distribution, and cleanup

Volunteers support programs alongside interns and staff and do not lead or coordinate programs on their own.

Outreach & Community Engagement

Volunteers may support outreach efforts by:

  • Assisting with tabling setup
  • Distributing materials
  • Helping with way finding and event flow
  • Supporting community engagement efforts during programs and events

Administrative Support

Volunteers may also assist with light administrative tasks such as:

  • Organizing supplies
  • Preparing materials
  • Supporting simple office and program-related tasks

  • Strengthen connections with RRC interns, student organizations, and campus partners
  • Explore future leadership and involvement opportunities within the Centro and across campus
