Graduate Students
Graduate Division
The Graduate Division is the central resource for all matters related to graduate education at UC San Diego. Our team is there at every step in a graduate student’s career, helping students navigate their path from admission to graduation and beyond. Working behind the scenes and in collaboration with faculty, staff and students, the Graduate Division guides today’s scholars on their upward trajectory to becoming tomorrow’s leaders.

Graduate Fellows
Fellowships are one of the best ways to fund your graduate education. UC San Diego’s Graduate Division encourages all graduate students to apply for fellowships. Fellowships provide financial support for graduate students to enhance an individual’s potential to develop into an independent scholar or professional without a payback obligation.

Cornell University Graduate School
A fellowship provides financial support to graduate students to pursue graduate studies without associated teaching or research responsibilities (as they are in a teaching or research assistantship). Fellowships are generally merit-based internal or external awards to support a student in a full-time course of study. The Graduate School funds a significant number of entering doctoral students with fellowships awarded through their graduate field.

Sallie Mae
We encourage students and families to start with savings, grants, scholarships, and federal student loans to pay for college. Students and families should evaluate all anticipated monthly loan payments, and how much the student expects to earn in the future, before considering a private student loan. This information is for graduate students attending participating degree-granting schools. Borrowers must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents if the school is located outside of the United States. Non-U.S. citizen borrowers who reside in the U.S. are eligible with a creditworthy cosigner (who must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident) and are required to provide an unexpired government-issued photo ID to verify identity. Applications are subject to a requested minimum loan amount of $1,000. Current credit and other eligibility criteria apply.
