FAQ

What is the cost of the event?

Participating in Xi/Lat graduation is free of charge for students and their families. 

 What time must I arrive for check-in?

Students must start checking in at 4:45 pm at the entrance to RIMAC Field. 

What is the attire for the event?

Students must wear their cap & gown. Be aware that graduates will be walking on uneven surfaces in addition to going up & down the stairs leading to the stage. Please notify RRC if you need accommodations. 

I have a final during the event, can I still participate?

Students who are unable to attend the event will have the option to pick up their graduation sash immediately after the event starting at 8 pm. If a student is unable to pick up a sash they may send a representative to pick it up on their behalf. Please notify RRC by Wednesday, June 12, 5 pm.

How many guests can I bring to the event? 

Students are allowed to bring as many guests as they would like, there is no limit nor do we provide tickets for the event. 

What is the seating arrangement for the event?

Students will be seated separately from their families. The seating area will open to the public at 5 pm on a first-come, first-served basis. The event takes outdoor with limited weather covering, and it is advised that families come prepared. No umbrellas will be allowed.  

What are permitted items for the event?  

We allow noise makers, balloons, and signs. We ask that guests are mindful of others and don't obstruct the view.  

What are prohibited items for the event?  

Please review the full list of prohibited items: 

  • Aerosols, mace or pepper spray
  • Animals or assistance animals, except for service animals specifically trained to assist a person with a disability
  • Bags or backpacks larger than 12" x 12" x 20"
  • Coolers
  • Drinks (Bring an empty reusable bottle to fill on-site)
  • Drones
  • Explosives
  • Fireworks
  • Knives (regardless of size)
  • Laser lights and laser pointers
  • Leatherman or similar tools
  • Plastic replica of weapons
  • Portable or folding chairs
  • Sharp and/or pointed objects, scissors or knitting needles
  • Smoking or vaping
  • Tripods for cameras
  • Umbrellas and long pole objects, balloons and other floating items, or other items that block the view of other guests
  • Voice-enhancement devices, such as bullhorns
  • Weapons 

Can my family record/photograph the event?

Yes, families are allowed to take video/photography for personal use only. Public distribution of video and photography is prohibited.

Will the event be recorded for future viewing?  

Yes, the graduation is live-streamed through our website. Additionally, each live stream is saved at the RCC Graduation site. 

When will I receive my graduation sash?

Sashes will be provided as part of the ceremony to all student participants. Sashes will not be provided prior to the event. Students who are unable to attend the event will have the option to pick up their graduation sash immediately after the ceremony starting at 8pm. If the student is unable to pick up the sash themselves they can send a representative to pick it up on their behalf; they will need to notify Assistant Director Claudia Martinez by Wednesday, June 12, 5 pm.

Will the event be translated? 

The entire event is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Where can I park for the event? Is parking free?
