Friendtorship Program

The Friendtorship program will provide the opportunity for upper class students to provide a mentor/ femtor opportunity to incoming first year and transfer students. Upper class students will provide support to best navigate UC San Diego and create a smooth transition from HS/ Community college to a R1 institution. The friendtorship program runs for one full academic year, with training taking place in the spring quarter, and the program taking place from September 2017-June 2018.

Training and requirements

Friendtors must attend training. Training will take place on April 15, April 22, April 29, May 7 and May 13, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Qualifications for Friendtors

  • Fill a full application by the designated and advertised deadline
  • Be an incoming 2nd year - 5th year undergraduate student
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must pass a conduct check as assigned and determined by Residence Life and Housing
  • Have general knowledge about the Raza Resource Centro and the Campus Community Centers

Friendtor perks

  • Use of the Centro after hours
  • Printing privileges at the Centro
  • Attend UCSD/RRC events at little to no cost
  • Attend conferences

Friendtor responsibilities

  • Complete all training
  • Attend the pre-assigned approved times with their graduate friendtor
  • Attend 2 Real World Career Series Workshops
  • Present or attend on conference of choice, with approval from RRC Career Staff
  • Attend all Friendtorship Program Staff Meetings
  • Attend “Career Path Exploration with Alumni” Program
  • Be available pre-determined nights and weekends for curriculum development, training or staff meeting
  • Maintain GPA throughout duration of the program
  • Refrain from having serious conduct issues and standing
  • Not be incoming RRC Intern
  • Provide post baccalaureate action plan (for students graduating the year of their participation)
