Avanzando Juntos is a program aimed for incoming latinx first year and transfer students, trying to demystify the college culture and incorporating the family dynamic necessary for student success and support. Participants will engage in activities that address their personal and academic development, academic expectations, cultural adjustment as well as the opportunity to network with other incoming students. The program is aimed as an introductory program into life at UC San Diego and the ways the Raza Resource Centro can be of service to students.
Family members will be provided with the opportunity to engage in critical workshops with staff to enhance the college experience of their student. The parent section will be available both in Spanish and English. Student section is English only, although the majority of it tends to be fluid in bilingual.
The program is free of charge to all incoming first year and transfer students and their families.
The program will take place on Saturday, September 23, 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Price Center Theater. Lunch will be provided.
